If you have been watching videos or reading stories about the violence and rioting going on across our country right now and you find yourself trying to justify these horrific acts, then you are part of the problem. Every time I look at the news or social media I see nothing but fire, brutality from both sides, destruction and evil sweeping the nation. It’s truly heartbreaking and very scary.
While those involved say that this is all being done in the name of George Floyd, it’s become evident that this is no longer about honoring his life.
On Saturday the Daily Wire reported that Police Chief Will Smith in Richmond, Virginia, revealed that thuggish rioters set ablaze a family home with a child still inside. When firefighters arrived at the scene and attempted to access the home, the criminals blocked them from doing so.
Thankfully the brave first responders were able to get past them and save the child.
The police chief told reporters, “One incident that is particularly poignant, that truly illustrates the seriousness of the issues we’re facing… Protestors intentionally set a fire to an occupied building on [West] Broad Street. This is not the only occupied building that has been set fire to in the last two days.”
“They prohibited us from getting on the scene,” he continued. “Protesters intercepted that fire apparatus several blocks away with vehicles and blocked that fire department’s access to the structure fire. Inside that home was a child.”
Smith was overcome with emotion when he said, “Officers were able to help those people out of the house. We were able to get the fire department there safely.”
“When you take a legitimate issue and hijack it for unknown reasons, that is unacceptable to me, it’s unacceptable to the Richmond Police Department, unacceptable to the city of Richmond,” Smith firmly concluded.
