Imagine working as a waiter in a restaurant, trying to make enough money to cover your rent, bills, and food, and getting a full-on slap on the behind in return.
The shocking CCTV footage captures the moment as the customer brazenly slaps the waitress on the BOTTOM as she walks away from his table. This isn’t the 1950s and this wasn’t some minor tap on the behind.
In this video, server Jayme Adair is shown being slapped in the bum by Clarence H. Locke Jr. after she dropped several menus off at his table at a Denny’s in Rome, New York. Even creepier is the fact that he committed this act while his wife—yes, his wife—was using the restroom at the restaurant.
It was around noon when Clarence H. Locke Jr. and his wife arrived at Denny’s in Rome, New York. At a table in waitress Jayme Adair’s section, the couple sat down and ordered some beverages when the incident happens. Locke just gave Adair more than a simple “thank you” for her effort in working on their drinks, when his wife got up to go to the bathroom; and while using the facilities. Locke allegedly leaned out of his booth and smacked the waitress’ backside.
Locke’s strange behavior continued as his wife left the table to use the restroom, leading to an incident that left Adair feeling “degraded” and Locke facing up to one year in prison.“The customer and his wife came in together. I didn’t recognize him by his face, but when he walked in he said, ‘Hello Jayme,’” the waitress recalled.
After the incident, she immediately informed her manager, who told the man to leave the restaurant. “I get their drink order, I turn to walk away and he reaches out of the booth, almost falls out of the booth and tries, and hits my butt, and I was just in shock. I never had something like that happen to me,” Adair told WKTV.
The waitress, who has worked at the restaurant for five years, continued, “It made me feel embarrassed, it was degrading, it made me feel…it made me feel like I did something wrong and I know I didn’t do anything wrong. So many women go through this and it is not fair. I did nothing wrong and I did not deserve that.”
Authorities were able to identify Clarence H. Locke Jr. shortly after he left the restaurant, as the assault was caught on CCTV.
Locke was then accused of forcible touching, a Class A misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail or three years of probation, according to Fox News. Unless the victim is under 18 or it is not the attacker’s first conviction for a sex-related offense, the violation does not require a person to register as a sex offender upon conviction.
“It bothered me because I have been in a relationship since I was in high school, and I have never had a guy do something like that to me. One of my co-workers said, ‘I’m so happy you are sticking up for yourself because the same thing has happened to me a few times.’ I have had comments before, but they were not vulgar like that. I want to make sure he is actually punished because it is not something minor to me – it bothers me,” Jayme Adair, who is dating 25-year-old artist Joseph Wright concluded.
Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said, “Working women are sick and tired of being subjected to this kind of abuse. Why someone would think that they could touch these people like that defies logic.”
In fact, it would be difficult for any average person with even a modicum of self-control to imagine slapping the bottom of a total stranger. It’s obvious that there is a problem with this individual. One shudder to imagine what he might be up to when no one is looking if he is willing to act in such a brazen manner in broad daylight and in public.
