You can alter the course of your life by performing a large enough number of kind deeds—just like what a nineteen-year-old John Lopez Jr. of Princeton, Texas, did, little did he know that the kindness he offers could clap back, a thousandfold!
The amazing story of one young man’s astounding act of kindness has been warming hearts across the length and breadth of the internet in recent months.
For many, they have to put off going to college at 18 so they can save up the money needed first. We all know how hard it is for so many youngsters to afford a college education.
John Lopez, a 19-year-old from North Texas, got a job at Walmart to save for college and put every paycheck into his savings account.
Any type of service industry work can occasionally seem thankless and unfulfilling. Some employees do, however, receive the praise they merit for going above and beyond the call of duty.
One of these people is a 19-year-old!
One day while at work, Lopez noticed a customer having trouble paying for her groceries. When faced with a customer who was having trouble paying her grocery bill of not insignificant $110, Lopez wasted no time in offering to assist the needy person.
Lopez’s unbelievable act of kindness was witnessed by another customer, who took to Facebook to share an image of the scene and share the story.
Laci Simms, who witnessed the selfless act, posted a photo of the moment to Facebook and wrote an accompanying message, writing:
“I just witnessed this ‘kid’ pay for a cart of merchandise for a woman in obvious distress about her inability to pay. She was a few people ahead of us and when she had trouble paying her bill he stepped in and told her if she’d wait he would pay her total. Ya’ll, it was $110 dollars!” she wrote.
She went on to commend Lopez’s general demeanor as well, continuing as such:
“He is always singing, upbeat, courteous, joyful and efficient. I don’t know John’s story, but I don’t think he is even 20 years old. He just renewed my faith in humanity and the generation we are raising! Everyone share this so the world knows what a blessing John is to our community!”
The Facebook post describing Lopez’s actions received t thousands of shares and likes after it went viral.
Walmart even shared the post on its official page, writing, “John is a shining example to all of us this holiday season, and we’re proud he’s on our team.”
Other messages from the public included the likes of:
“That was sweet of him to use his whole pay-check to pay for her goods. Way to go John!”
“Thank you and God bless you, John!! You have a beautiful heart.”
Lopez said that he was just doing what his parents taught him to do.
“My parents basically taught me if someone needs help, you should be able to help them, and if someone is down, bring them up,” he said “I make it my goal to at least in one way make someone smile.”
Well, we can start a chain of good deeds that will eventually improve people’s lives if we all start giving back to society and helping each other out. Each and every one of us has the power to do good deeds that will enhance our lives in some way, whether they are actions that benefit the environment or other people.
