The death of George Floyd has sparked a historical uprising that spread all across the country and even to other countries across the globe. If it weren’t for the controversial video that captured the entire thing we probably wouldn’t even know the victim’s name.
The girl responsible for the video is 17-year-old Darnella Frazier. This teenager who witnessed the killing has been traumatized by the ordeal and has faced a lot of unfair criticism and backlash. With the help of therapy and a change of scenery hopefully, she will be able to get thought the onslaught.

Frazier is also facing a media frenzy while dealing with reporters and other sources of attention as she still remains a critical part of this case. Her attorney, Seth B Cobin, says that she and her family no longer live at their house in South Minneapolis, which is just around the corner from the spot where George Floyd was killed. The family has moved to an undisclosed location to get away from the constant attention and strangers knocking at their door.

According to her attorney, Darnella has begun therapy with a professional who specializes in trauma as well as keeping herself occupied with school work.

Frazier’s role in the murder case is vital and so she has met with investigators from the FBI Civil Rights Divison and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to give them her statement. Her attorney says it is very important to speak to the main witness and Darnella is just doing her part.

Cobin said,” It’s not an easy story to tell. You’re going back to that place in your head and that’s not an easy way to go back. It was emotional for her to recount her story, and for all of us to hear it.”

Investigators are also trying to get in touch with other witnesses that can be seen or heard in the video.
It cant be easy for someone so young to witness something so horrible right in her own neighborhood. In order to help Darnella get some peace and healing the community has started a GoFundMe page for her. In just 2 days it has raised over $50,000.
