Former presidential “hopeful” Bernie Sanders is letting former President Barack Obama off pretty easy for agreeing to a massive payday for a Wall Street Speech. As is being reported, Obama is taking a $400,000 fee for speaking at a Wall Street Health Care conference in Sept. of this year. The even is being hosted by Cantor Fitzgerald LP.
Sanders has been a long time critic of Wall Street and has never really held any punches when speaking on it or about people who also receive paydays from them such as Hillary Clinton until Obama, his personal friend, decided to take one. Sanders now only calling Obama’s selling-out “unfortunate”.
“President Obama’s a friend of mine,” Sanders said. “I think he, as president, represented our country with integrity and intelligence, but I think at a time when people are so frustrated with the power of Wall Street and the big-money interests, I think it is unfortunate that President Obama is doing this.
“I would have hoped that the president would not have given a speech like this,” Sanders said.
Gayle King them asks Sanders if he would deliver a Wall Street speech if he were offered $400,000.
“If Wall Street offered me that, yeah, I don’t want Wall Street’s money. But I must tell you, I really don’t have to worry about that too much,” Sanders said as the program’s hosts laughed. “I haven’t gotten too many invitations from Wall Street.”
