New CDC Guidelines Could Be A Step Towards Normalcy

Americans are more than ready to be done with this infernal pandemic, and the CDC knows it.

The national disease agency has been at the forefront of coronavirus precautions from the very moment that the disease first began making its rounds in the United States, albeit often with some confusing suggestions.

Now, as we begin to enter the end of this horrid reality, the Center for Disease Control is making a major adjustment to their guidance on the wearing of masks.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention eased its guidelines Tuesday on the wearing of masks outdoors, saying fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to cover their faces anymore unless they are in a big crowd of strangers.

And those who are unvaccinated can go outside without masks in some situations, too.

The new guidance represents another carefully calibrated step on the road back to normal from the coronavirus outbreak that has killed over 570,000 people in the U.S.

The CDC seemed finally optimistic – something that Americans hadn’t experienced in some time.

“Today, I hope, is a day when we can take another step back to the normalcy of before,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said. “Over the past year, we have spent a lot of time telling Americans what you can’t do. Today, I am going to tell you some of the things you can do, if you are fully vaccinated.”

The reason for the change? More than half of the US population has received at least one dose of vaccine against the COVID-19 virus, and nearly 30% have been fully vaccinated.
