Mickey D’s says, “Kempczinski succeeds Steve Easterbrook, who has separated from the Company following the Board’s determination that he violated company policy and demonstrated poor judgment involving a recent consensual relationship with an employee.”
This lower-level employee has not been identified and it’s unclear how the company even found out about it. Easterbrook calls this relationship a mistake but agrees with the board’s decision to resign from the company. It sounds like he was fired.
Easterbrook reportedly wrote, “This (relationship) was a mistake. Given the values of the company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on. Beyond this, I hope you can respect my desire to maintain my privacy.”
Maybe this “mistake” blabbed to everyone about hooking up with a CEO. The whole this was apparently consensual so it makes you wonder why McDonald’s is being so harsh.
