Joe Biden, only 8 weeks and some change into his first term, has run into his first major headache, and he’s already ready to send someone else to clean up his mess.

Biden’s ascension to the Oval Office sent an unspoken message to would-be migrants to this country: Trump the proverbial Sheriff has been run out of town, and making it into America via illegal means is now going to be a whole lot less painful.

This has brought a massive surge of migrants to the border, where a humanitarian crisis has been unfolding on account of the influx.

The administration, facing criticism from all sides on this subject, is sending one of their big guns south to try to clean up the mess.

President Joe Biden, whose administration is grappling with overcrowding at migrant facilities on the southern border, tasked Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday with leading efforts to coordinate with Mexico and the Central American nations of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

The assignment marks Harris’ first major policy role since being sworn in in January.

“I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this” than Harris, the president said at the White House. “When she speaks, she speaks for me, doesn’t have to check with me.”

The vice president will work to stem the flow of people coming to the border, thousands of whom are unaccompanied children. Biden, among other reversals of Trump-era immigration policies, ended the prior administration’s practice of expelling unaccompanied minors.

Harris will almost certainly have her hands full, as the crisis continues to spiral out of control, and the media begins to arrive at the border to cover her first big gig.
