May Boyce is an 88-year-old liquor store owner in Nashville. According to reports, she got “fed up” of her stop being robbed so she shot an alleged shoplifter.

The final straw came when she spotted a suspect who was trying to steal alcohol from her store so she grabbed her late mother’s .38 Smith & Wesson snub-nose revolver and shot him.

She told The New York Post Saturday, “You’ve got to stick up for yourself sometimes. I did what I had to do, and I hope word gets out on the street that I’m fed up and I’m not taking it anymore.”

“I did what I had to do. After you’ve been played for a fool by people stealin’ from you for years, you get fed up. And don’t put me in the category of a little old lady. I know how to take care of myself, Boyce added.

She claims to have never shot a gun before but said, “I guess its something that comes natural. I aimed at the floor to scare him.”

Even though she wasn’t aiming for the suspect she still shot the alleged thief in the back.

Boyce has been working six days a week at the shop that she has owned since 1994. She said, “I’m a people person. I like to work.”

She is now out on a $10,000 bond and authorities said it might be two years before they give her back her confiscated gun, to which Boyce said, ” I told’em sh*t, I might be dead by then. But the law’s the law.”
