On Thursday evening while appearing on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC Former Vice President Joe Biden stuck his foot in his mouth by saying that if voters believe the accusations made against him by for Senate staffer Tara Reade then “they probably shouldn’t vote for me.”

Is he trying to sabotage his own chances in the election? Not that I’m complaining but I don’t think his supporters will be happy.

During the interview, Biden was asked what he would say to people who are having a hard time figuring out whether or not to vote for him since Reade’s accusations came to light. His response was, ” I think they should vote their heart, and if they believe Tara Reads, they probably shouldn’t vote for me. I wouldn’t vote for me if I believed Tara Reade.”

He continues to dig himself deeper, “The fact is that, look at Tara Reade’s story. It changes considerably. And so – but, I don’t want to question her motive. I don’t want to question anything, other than to say, the truth matters. This is being vetted. It’s been vetted. They went, and people interviewed scores of my employees over my whole career. This is just totally, thoroughly, completely out of character, and the idea that in a public place, in a hallway, I would assault a woman… I promise you, it never happened.”

“It should be vetted,” Biden continues. “She should be thoroughly looked at, and whether or not these happened, look at the story, follow the storyline, and determine whether there’s any truth to it, and there is no truth to it. I promise you.”

Biden claims that he really doesn’t remember Reade, which could be true since he is possibly in the early stages of dementia. He also cant remember what year it is, what he had for lunch, or the fact that he is running for president, not Senate.
