It appears that another Democrat in the presidential race has admitted certain defeat and dropped out. This time its California Sen. Kamala Harris. She claims that the was having financial issues with her campaign, but it’s clear it also suffered from a lack of momentum.

Kamala Harris announced on Tuesday that she is withdrawing from the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. This all came after failing to capitalize on the early enthusiasm that her campaign had and then watching her poll numbers completely collapse.

“In good faith, I can’t tell you, my supporters and volunteers, that I have a path forward if I don’t believe I do,” Harris wrote in an email to supporters. “So, to you my supporters, it is with deep regret — but also with deep gratitude — that I am suspending my campaign today.”

Harris posted about it on Twitter:

“To my supporters, it is with deep regret—but also with deep gratitude—that I am suspending my campaign today. But I want to be clear with you: I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the People. All the people”

In a parting message, Harris stated that a lack of financial resources was the reason for throwing in the towel, saying “I’m not a billionaire,” a not so subtle jab at former New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.

While it is true that a campaign needs resources to remain strong but running out of money is just a symptom of more serious political shortcomings. Any smart businessman would not want to contribute to a failing cause. They are only interested in a candidate with momentum and a clear path to victory. Harris just didn’t have either one.
