Rumors are swirling around social media about whether or not North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is dead or alive.
It’s a fact that no one had seen him for weeks and he even missed the most important celebration of the year, his grandfather’s birthday on April 15th.
We first heard that he could be brain dead after heart surgery, then we heard he could actually already be dead. Then he was alive and well, then he was just hiding from the coronavirus in his luxurious beach resort.
Then he finally made an appearance and seems to be alive and well…. or is he?
Photos show the leader at a ribbon-cutting event smiling and waving in an attempt to quell the rumors that he was in a vegetative state or already dead. Or was it just a body double?
The International Business Times says it is a “well-known fact that Kim uses body doubles.”
Just after the footage of Kim’s reappearance emerged, social media users didn’t waste any time pointing out all the discrepancies in the leader’s dental features, hairline, and facial expressions. Many people found differences when comparing his recent public outing with previous appearances, leading many to believe that a body double is being used to stand in for Kim and end the speculation surrounding his death.
One of the first to draw attention to the dissimilarities was human rights activist Jennifer Zeng. She shows the two versions of Kim highlighting the differences in teeth and ears. Zeng questions whether this is the real Kim appearing on May 1st with side by side comparisons of Kim’s “old and new” photos.
I really can’t say for sure. You be the judge, do these photos look like the same person? Is it really Kim Jong Un or a very convincing imposter?
