Over the course of the last several weeks, the relationship between the US and Russia has faltered terribly, and it doesn’t appear as though it’s going to get much better anytime soon.

The first real sign of trouble came after Russia began amassing military personnel and equipment near Ukraine, with many believing that such a move could only indicate that imminent and unforgivable action is about to take place.

This had US President Joe Biden sending some shade toward the Kremlin, who responded by saying that the United States was being adversarial. The Russian military then closed off access to the Black Sea in order to keep nosy American warships from keeping an eye on the situation.

Now, as one of Russia’s most prominent political dissidents is said to be on death’s door at a prison camp in Siberia, Team Biden is warning Vladimir Putin not to let him die.

President Joe Biden’s national security adviser warned Sunday that there will be repercussions for Russia if Putin critic Alexei Navalny dies, amid reports that his health is rapidly deteriorating in prison.

“We have communicated to the Russian government that what happens to Mr. Navalny in their custody is their responsibility and they will be held accountable by the international community,” Jake Sullivan said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Navalny was earlier poisoned by the Russian government but survived thanks to treatment abroad.

Upon his return to Russia, however, he was arrested upon arrival and sent off to a particularly egregious prison camp where he is currently suffering.
