Lisa Marie Presley released an emotional duet with her father 40 years after his death.
Elvis Presley is loved around the world and generation after generation of fans still feels the loss of the King of Rock and Roll. That loss is no more powerful for anyone than Lisa Marie Presley, his daughter.
This song gives Lisa the opportunity to perform a duet with her beloved father. Grab a tissue, because it’s a moving experience to watch this video. The powerful lyrics of this gospel tune which was a favorite of her father, are orchestrated beautifully. Touching home movie footage, concert performances, and photos, along with Lisa Marie’s Studio Performance merge into a stunning visual accompaniment.
Elvis appeared in the video alongside his daughter Lisa for a newly-released duet “Where No One Stands Alone”.
The duet with Lisa, on a song that originally came out in 1967, is special to the late singer’s daughter, which she explained in the album’s liner notes: “It was a very powerful and moving experience to sing with my father.”
She added: “The lyrics speak to me and touch my soul. I’m certain that the lyrics spoke to my father in much the same way.”
Here’s the “No One Stands Alone” lyrics:
Once I stood in the night
With my head bowed low
In the darkness as black as could be
And my heart felt alone and I cried oh Lord
Don’t hide your face from me
Like a king I may live in a palace so tall
With great riches to call my own
But I don’t know a thing
In this whole wide world
That’s worse than being alone
Hold my hand all the way, every hour every day
Come here to the great unknown
Take my hand, let me stand
Where no one stands alone
Take my hand, let me stand
Where no one stands alone
Lisa added that gospel music “was his favorite genre – no question about it.”
She continued, “He seemed to be at his most passionate, and at peace while singing gospel. He would truly come alive – whether he was singing just for himself and me at home, or on stage in front of thousands of fans.”
Lisa discussed her father during an interview on the British talk show Lorraine, sharing:
“I wouldn’t say I talk to him. I just remember everything. I can sort of pull out of the files whatever memories I have and stuff like that. And occasionally ask for help. Which was the case with this record. I just felt like a hand came down to me, it felt like that a little bit.”
