Initially cleared by a physician at home in Nashville for the procedure, Thomas traveled to Jupiter, Florida for the procedure at Bafitis Plastic Surgery and was released from the facility on March 21 and taken to a nearby recovery facility, where she became unresponsive to the following day.
She was then taken to Jupiter Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The autopsy found Thomas’ exact cause of death to be “pneumothorax due to perforated parietal pleura during liposuction with autologous fat reinjection procedure,” according to People.

More details from The Daily Caller:
The surgeon allegedly accidentally punctured the membrane while completing the fat transfer during a breast lift procedure after her implant had been removed, according to the medical examiner’s report, People reported.
Thomas was transported to the hospital in Jupiter, Florida, where she died roughly an hour after she first became unresponsive, according to TMZ.
She was a former Hawaiian Tropic model and is survived by her husband and their son, Samuel. Thomas and Williams also had a daughter, Katherine, who died in 2020 a car accident, according to People.
Thomas was married to singer Williams, 72, for over 30 years. After meeting in 1985 at one of Williams’ shows in Washington state, the pair tied the knot in 1990.
The pair raised two children — daughter Katie Williams-Dunning and son Samuel Williams.
