The southern state of Georgia is currently being held hostage and it may be that not even the most silver-tongued negotiator can bring peace.
There are two Senate races in the Peach State that have gone to a runoff to be held next month. The results of these two races will determine the balance of the Senate for the next several years, which means everyone is holding their breath wondering what will happen in Georgia.
Meanwhile, President Trump has been pushing Georgia lawmakers to help him overturn the 2020 electoral results in the southern state. Those lawmakers have so far refused which caused a pro-Trump attorney to call for Georgia voters to boycott the election in an attempt to use those votes as a bargaining chip for the President.
Trump does not appear to agree with the boycott and insisted that the people vote.
President Donald Trump spent Saturday morning trying to overturn the last election in Georgia. He spent Saturday night ripping elections in Georgia and telling his followers in Valdosta to vote in Georgia’s January runoffs anyway.
Taking the stage to chants of, “Four more years!” and, “We love you!” Trump told the crowd of thousands at the “Defend the Majority” rally to get behind U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler and U.S. Sen. David Perdue ahead of the crucial Jan. 5 runoff elections.
But not before he launched immediately into false claims about winning the election in Georgia. He lost by about 12,000 votes to President-elect Joe Biden.
Part of reason for the anticipation about the results in Georgia comes from the fact the state’s electoral college votes haven’t gone for a Democrat since the 90’s when Bill Clinton beat out George Bush.
