President Biden Is Accusing TRUMP Of Sabotage For How He Left Things At The Border

Now here’s something that seems like an ill-advised retort: US President Joe Biden is now blaming Donald Trump, his predecessor, for the current crisis at the border.

The comments came just a day after Biden’s first major address to Congress, and amid a humanitarian disaster in the southwest.

President Joe Biden blamed the Trump administration for ongoing problems at the U.S.-Mexico border, citing its failure to cooperate and share critical information during the presidential transition period.

In an exclusive interview that aired Friday with “TODAY” show co-anchor Craig Melvin, Biden said his administration inherited “one god-awful mess at the border” from former President Donald Trump. He said it’s the result of “the failure to have a real transition — cooperation from the last administration like every other administration has done.”

And then:

“The two departments that didn’t give us access to virtually anything were the immigration and the Defense Department,” said Biden, who added that his team didn’t know until he was sworn into office that Trump had fired many people from those departments and they were “understaffed considerably.”

Of course, the statement will leave Biden vulnerable to one hellacious retort from Trump and his surrogates, as the former President was a notorious border hawk, pushing back against nearly all Democratic policy points when it came to securing our southern border.

In essence, Biden is picking a fight that he knows he cannot win, and one has to wonder if these obtuse and bold statements aren’t just baited to lure Trump back into the conversation. After all, Biden is most popular when he’s being compared directly to Trump.
