A potentially scary situation happened in Alabama that has left one husband very confused.

Frank Reeves, a homeowner in Creola, Alabama, had a night he would never forget. Now, on the evening of August 15, when Frank was awoken by his wife Tracy who told him that there was an intruder in their home.

Armed and ready to defend his property, Frank went to confront the intruder and ended up in a gunfight that would leave both him and the intruder injured. Little did Frank know, the intruder was his wife’s secret live-in boyfriend, Michael Amacker.

The events of that night left everyone in shock and disbelief, including the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

“I’ve still yet to figure out how somebody can be staying in your house and you do not know it,” said Captain Paul Burch. “It’s somewhat bizarre.”

The police arrived at the scene to find both Amacker and Tracy high on methamphetamines, a drug that had been a big part of their extramarital affair.

“Tracy Reeves informed her husband Frank Reeves that there was an ‘intruder’ inside their Creola home. Frank, who was armed, encountered Michael Amacker, who was also armed, inside the home. The two men shot at each other, injuring themselves,” a Twitter user named Ed Clark shared, days after the fight.

When Frank encountered Amacker, he took out his firearm and shot the man in the leg and elbow. Amacker, not ready to go down without a fight, also took out his weapon and shot back at Frank, injuring him in the chest. Both men made it through the gunfight despite their wounds.

Amacker was then charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with an altered license, and possession of a controlled substance following the incident. They also discovered that Amacker had been living in one of the house’s rooms for nearly a year, with Tracy providing him with food.

The news of the events that took place in the quiet town of Creola left the neighbors in disbelief. One neighbor described Frank as a “very calm person” who “cuts his grass and does things around the house.” The police investigation revealed that Amacker had a long-term relationship with Tracy, one that involved methamphetamines and a secret life in Frank’s home.

Captain Burch commented on the effects of methamphetamines on people, saying:

“People that are on meth, not only do they have paranoia, they can’t keep their mouth shut. So if there was some kind of diabolical plan, Amacker may have told some other people.” The events of that night in Creola, Alabama, were truly a shocking and unexpected turn of events for everyone involved.
