Would you vote for Kanye West? You might just get that chance in 2024 because Yeezy said that he will be running for president.
Last Thursday, West appeared at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City where he sparked the idea that he was eyeing a presidential run.
“When I run for president in 2024, we’re going to definitely- yo what are y’all laughing at?” West said as the crown snickered, “When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that, in fact, I’m going to walk.”
He then added, “What I’m saying is, when y’all read the headlines, ‘Kanye’s crazy,’ this and that, this and that, it’s like one in three African Americans are in jail and all of the celebrities are in jail also because they can’t say nothing! They’ve got no opinion! They’re so scared!.”
The Grammy-winning artist then laughed as he recalled the frenzy that followed his 2005 claim that then-President George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people” in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, which he walked back in 2018.
West has floated the idea of a presidential run multiple times in recent months.
Last year, West caused a cultural firestorm when he donned a “Make America Great Again” hat and visited President Trump in the Oval Office.
West made himself a household name when he married Kim Kardashian, with whom he has four children. However, last year he made a huge announcement saying he has given his life to Jesus and will no longer be producing secular music. Shortly thereafter he released a new gospel album titled “Jesus is King” which reached number one on the Billboard.
That being said, I don’t think any of that qualifies you to be president of the United States. It is my opinion that he should stick to what he is good at.
