DOJ Has Concerns over Baltimore / Obama Deal

News For You

The DOJ is expressing “grave concerns” over an overhaul deal with the former Obama administration. The deal was put in place after the Freddy Gray case.

Attorney’s have been vocal as of late during a public hearing held Thursday which included somewhere around 50 Baltimore residents who endorsed the reforms. Further, they also complained about a “deep-seated racism” and use of deadly force by the police department.

John Gore, Justice Department lawyer, stated that Attorney General Sessions is concerned if the deal “will achieve the goals of public safety and law enforcement while at the same time protecting civil rights.”

Gore said there has been a spike in crime in Baltimore and the administration wants to make sure the agreement “will help rather than hinder public safety.”
