The former Subway spokesman, also known as “The Subway Guy,” who was later convicted of pedophilia, opened up in a handwritten letter obtained by The New York Post.
The former spokesman, who became famous in 2000 after he credited Subway for losing a significant amount of weight, pleaded guilty in 2015 to having sex with minors and for the distribution of child pornography. He is currently serving more than 15 years at the Federal Correctional Institution in Englewood, Colorado.
Jared Fogle was busted for being a pedophile and when being sentenced the judge stated that the “level of perversion and lawlessness exhibited by Mr. Fogle is extreme.”
After being given a prison sentence of 15 years and 8 months, Fogle remained in the news on a semi-regular basis for getting beat up by his fellow inmates for being a pedophile who has been radio silent for the past two years.
Fogle is currently locked up at the Englewood Federal Correctional Institution. He apparently received an interview request recently that he turned down, but the New York Post has shared the handwritten reply that Fogle sent to the person who made the request. Fogle finally admits that his behavior was despicable and expressed some remorse.
“I really royally screwed up to wind up where I am,” Jared wrote, adding, “I was selfish and entitled.”
At one point after his incarceration, Fogle filed a $57 million lawsuit against the prosecutors and judges who sent him to prison. He also incredibly filed another lawsuit against the parents of one of his victims.
More details of this story from AWM:
In the letter, Fogle admits that he is healthier than before but that life is extremely hard while in prison.
“We don’t have a lot of control over our daily lives in prison, but working out is one of the things I can control.”
During downtime, Fogle and other inmates watch football on the television. Besides sports and working out, Fogle doesn’t have much to occupy his time. Nevertheless, he confessed that “I feel really good physically and mentally.”
The letter also contains Fogle’s admission that he did something wrong – although he doesn’t seem capable of owning up and claiming full responsibility for what he did and how it hurt innocent children.
“I realize I royally screwed up to wind up where I am. I was selfish and entitled. I think about all the people I’ve let down every single day, especially my family. All I can do is learn from my stupid mistakes to be a better man when I get released in a few years.”
Nevertheless, Fogle misses life on the outside of prison and writes about it.
“Prison takes away so much, but I really miss the small things like walking barefoot on the carpet, sleeping on a nice comfy mattress, eating with real silverware, having access to a microwave.”
According to AWM, Fogle can be released from prison as early as 2029 when he would have completed 85 percent of his sentence. However, it is not clear whether Fogle will get out of prison earlier than his maximum sentence or if the court will want the convicted pedophile behind bars for longer.
