On Wednesday, pro-life leaders expressed their disapproval in a letter to Doug McMillion, the company’s president, and CEO. Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer recently revealed that it has begun paying for employee abortions.
Walmart appears to be in favor of killing its future customers and future employees in abortions. The business revealed last week that it would pay for abortion travel for its workers, utilizing its health care plan to cover travel for any worker who has traveled more than 100 miles to seek an abortion that will end the life of a special human being.
The abortion will be covered by Walmart’s health insurance plans “where there is a health risk to the mother, rape or incest, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, or lack of fetal viability.”
Even though it seems like Walmart won’t grant every request for abortion travel, the policy is at odds with medical care and science because treating ectopic pregnancies and miscarriages is not the same as an abortion, and doctors have said there isn’t really a good reason to kill babies in abortions.
Walmart provided no indication on how it would monitor such fictitious claims, which has raised some concerns that employees may claim that abortions performed for the purpose of birth control are medically required to justify Walmart subsidizing the abortion travel.
Now, conservative groups are condemning Walmart’s funding of “woke policies,” warning that “no self-proclaimed conservative official or conservative organization should accept funding from Walmart while it supports the policies of the woke left.”
“Surely as board members with a fiduciary responsibility to your shareholders, you must understand that Walmart’s increasingly woke policies are alienating millions of your customers who will take their business elsewhere, Your founder Sam Walton would be appalled,” the letter states.
The list of leaders includes William Walton, executive board member of CPAC; Penny Nance, CEO and president of Concerned Women for America; and former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint; Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts; Susan B. Anthony List President of the pro-life group and Marjorie Dannenfelser.
Matt Schlapp, chairman of CPAC said that, “CPAC and other conservative leaders are changing tactics, Once allies, these companies that fund Black Lives Matter and Planned Parenthood are as big an adversary as the woke socialist groups they support. Large publicly held companies need to realize conservative groups and officeholders will no longer do their bidding, We are shelving our polite silence and in full-on battle mode. After November, it will get much worse for these woke corporations.”
The “health risk” can be used to justify abortion if the pregnancy results in mental stress or worry, which proponents of abortion claim are “healthy.”
Supreme Court ruling made abortions and miscarriages connected to ectopic pregnancies illegal, as Democrats and media outlets have incorrectly claimed, however, no state or U.S. territory has filed legislation to outlaw these procedures, and none of the states already do so.
According to the letter, conservatives will neither condone nor forgive Walmart’s decision, “Conservatives who seek a government that reflects their values should take their business elsewhere, and no self-proclaimed conservative official or conservative organization should accept funding from Walmart while it supports the policies of the woke left.”
The Supreme Court decision returned to the states the duty for health laws and abortion legislation that had been federalized in the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. The court ruled that there was no constitutional right to abortion and that governments may be regulated it.
