The city of Salem, Oregon has ordered a company owner to get rid of a mural he had painted on the wall of his organization by an artist, he commissioned to develop a patriotic motif on personal property that he has.
The art work is an American flag with the scene of the flag-raising on Iwo Jima established inside.
The city declares that all artwork needs to be authorized by the common council.
Certainly, that would hold true for any kind of artwork on public residential or commercial property, but personal property is a different issue.
