The LAPD is looking into possible misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run charges against Anne Heche in connection with the horrific car accident that sent her to the hospital in critical condition.

It was when the American actress had recorded a podcast in which she was audibly inebriated and sipping vodka in the air, just a few days prior to the tragic car accident she was involved in Los Angeles.

According to reports the 53-year-old actress’ Mini Cooper is believed to have struck a garage structure at an apartment complex in Los Angeles on Friday morning, she allegedly fled the scene of the collision after that and continued driving quickly down the street before crashing again with a nearby house.

Video captured by CBS Los Angeles showed the carnage left behind after Heche crashed her car into a home. The blue Mini Cooper was seen rushing down the roadway in another footage before colliding with the ground.

LAPD said that the car caught fire, and an ambulance was called to take her for medical attention to a nearby hospital. The vehicle impacted and came to rest inside of a 738 square foot, two-story residence, the Los Angeles Fire Department said, compromising its structural integrity and igniting a large fire before firefighters arrived.

The Los Angeles Times and others report that Heche has been hospitalized with serious burns. A representative for the actor said in a statement, “At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition she has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

On the day of the crash, LAPD officials are investigating what role drugs or alcohol may have played in the frightening collision. Once the results of the blood draw are determined and the investigation is completed, the case will be handed over to the LA City Attorney’s office, LAPD Officials said.

The news of the investigation comes amid new attention that has been focused on the most recent and since-deleted episode of her “Better Together” podcast.

The media reports that the actress claimed to have been drinking vodka “with wine chasers” in an episode that was allegedly posted on Friday morning, hours before her crash. She also allegedly claimed to have been “rocked” by a “really awful day.”

Producer of the podcast Ryan Tillotson claimed in a statement that the episode was really taped earlier that week. “The episode was recorded on the Tuesday before the episode was released, and has been removed due to inaccurate reporting. Any reports that she recorded that episode on the day of the accident are false,” Tillotson said.

On the recording, Heche makes a reference to a brand of vodka in what appears to be non-traditional advertising (NTP), while talking to his partner, Heather Duffy.

Heche joked about her beverage choice and urged listeners to “keep your fingers crossed” that the program they were taping will air. In a voice that made it clear that she had been drinking, she continued, “Each of us has a bottle in front of our pals from Re:find.”

The investigators are trying to determine what happened the days before the accident and the making of the podcast can be an important test.
