Memorial Day should be a day for remembering those who died serving in the armed forces. Its a sign of respect to the people who gave their lives for American freedoms. But instead, during a 2nd Amendment rally in Kentucky the day before Memorial day turned into an insane display when angry gun owners hung a dummy bearing the likeness of Governor Andy Beshear from a tree.

Outside of the Democratic Governor’s mansion a crowd of about 100 gun-owning Americans gathered to celebrate their constitutional rights with a good old fashion lynching. When the rally was winding down someone drove up in their truck and strung up the effigy of the Governor with a note around its neck with the Latin phrase “sic semper tyrannis,” which loosely translates to “thus always to tyrants.”

The event, which was billed as a Second Amendment rally was supposed to be about “what it really means to be FREE.”

Even Pastor Cliff Christman had grown sick of the Governor’s coronavirus restrictions, saying, “This has been one of the biggest shams in world history… Grown men have been hiding in homes nearly wetting their pants over this invisible enemy…”

People’s patients are really growing thin and it may be that we are not far from a Civil War when disagreements turn into symbolic lynchings. The country really is torn about how to proceed with restrictions and lifting business closures. If the mindset is there, the actions are surely not far behind. Something has to be done now.

To lift or not to lift, that is the question.
