You Won’t Believe What Mitch McConnell Had To Say About Calls For Biden’s Impeachment

It’s not exactly bipartisanship outright, but this week did see a little reprieve in the rhetoric coming out of Washington DC.

President Joe Biden’s Afghan exit strategy was an abject failure, we know that now. The speed at which the Taliban was able to conquer the entire nation in our absence also proves that we spent 20 years training Afghan military forces who just gave up in eleven days.

This led to predictable calls for punishing the President, including a number of lawmakers suggesting that impeachment could be on the horizon.

Mitch McConnell, begs to differ.

“The president is not going to be removed from office. There’s a Democratic House, a narrowly Democratic Senate,” McConnell said when asked if he supports impeachment, per the Hill. “There isn’t going to be an impeachment.” Other Republican senators, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn and Lindsey Graham, have said Biden should either resign or face impeachment over the chaotic exit from Afghanistan, reports CNN.

But that’s not to say that Biden won’t be held accountable at all…his punishment might just be political in nature.

“The report card you get is every two years,” McConnell said. “I think the way these behaviors get adjusted in this country is at the ballot box.” He added: “Typically there is some buyer’s remorse.”

Biden may have gotten away with it for now, but he’s certainly not out of the woods yet.
