Was The White House Unsure If They Would Protect Trump?

The Latest

This is odd. Psaki is supposed to answer questions for the Biden Administration but in this case, she seems to be dodging whether or not the Biden Admin would watch out for Trump. Was the Biden Admin debating whether they would protect Trump? A CBS WH Correspondent asked about an animated video that shows Iran attempting to assassinate Trump.

“CBS WH Correspondent Weijia Jiang: I have a question about a video that Iran’s Supreme Leader posted on his website that appears to show a robot conducting a drone strike, killing the former president at his Mar-a-Lago golf club. Is the intelligence community assessing this threat and working with former President Trump to offer protection of any kind?

PSAKI: I’m not going to speak to the work of our intelligence community. Obviously, the kind of rhetoric or video from the Supreme Leader is something that we’ve seen — you know, offensive rhetoric and behavior in the past. But I’m not going to speak to more specifics of internal discussions.

JIANG: But are you aware of the video?

PSAKI: I don’t have any more details on it.”

The reporter did later receive a response from the White House, which condemned the video, noted that intelligence matters aren’t discussed publicly, and added: “The United States will protect and defend its citizens. This includes those serving the United States now and those who formerly served.”

This is the video in question that insinuates Iran is going to assassinate Trump:

According to The Times of Israel: “The animated video was part of a contest to mark the January 3, 2020 killing of Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, who was slain in an American drone strike in Baghdad.”

But it makes you wonder why that was so hard for Psaki to answer. She could have easily just answered ‘of course we will protect the former president,’ and that would’ve been it. She didn’t need to go into the hows, just that they were going to. But the fact that she dodges this question makes you wonder, was protecting Trump up for debate?
