As Joe Biden ascended to the presidency, there was a feeling among those who were seeking to emigrate to America that now would be a good time. Democrats often enact much more lenient border policies, and this bodes well for an already difficult trip.
And so a surge began.
Biden responded out of both sides of his mouth to the issue, first telling us that this was a “seasonal” surge, but also appointing the Vice President herself to oversee the issue.
VP Kamala Harris, however, has yet to so much as visit the border during her first 2+ months in the role, choosing instead to focus on the “root” causes of immigration…namely climate change.
Now this reluctance has struck a nerve, and threats to Harris’ travel budget are emerging.
Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, on Thursday will introduce a bill that would bar taxpayer money from being used for the travel expenses of Vice President Kamala Harris until she visits the southern border and issues a report on how to solve the crisis there.
“We have an absolute crisis at the border, and Vice President Harris was appointed to lead the administration’s efforts on the border crisis, but it’s been 56 days, and in that time she hasn’t been to the border once,” Hinson told Fox News in an interview Wednesday. “She hasn’t held a news conference on the administration’s efforts for a plan, and I think it’s time she does that.”
The humanitarian crisis on the border continues to draw heat for the Biden administration, which has only further perplexed the American people as to why Kamala Harris is so hellbent on avoiding the border.
