Donald Trump has been unlike any president we have ever seen before and will likely keep up that reputation until his very last day in office, which will come a lot sooner than anticipated.
One little known fact that makes President Trump stand out from his predecessors is that he didn’t bring any family pets into the White House. Many of our past presidents have had family dogs in the office, Herbert Hoover had a pet opossum, Calvin Coolidge had a raccoon named Rebecca, and even Bill Clinton had a cat.
But Trump never did. He came to Washington to do a job which was to run the country as a businessman with no distractions.
Now, President-elect Joe Biden is coming back to the White House this time with his family including two dogs, one of which will go down in history as the first rescue dog in office.
From NPR:
Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, have two German shepherds, Major and Champ.
While there is a very long tradition of presidential pets, one of the Biden dogs will be making a bit of history. NBC News has reported that Major will be the first rescue dog in the White House. The Bidens fostered and then adopted Major two years ago, through the Delaware Humane Association.
The Bidens got Champ as a puppy in 2008, while Biden was serving as vice president.
Of course, Major and Champ won’t be calling the White House their home until Joe Biden and his team are able to prove the legitimacy of the election.
