The last thing in the job description for a pizza delivery driver would be anything about saving lives. But, that’s just where a delivery driver woman found herself after meeting the elderly man.
In a heartwarming story of kindness, Angela Nguyen, a pizza delivery person, became a hero for one of her regular customers, 76-year-old Lee Haase. Every Saturday, Angela delivered Lee’s favorite pizza, but one day, she noticed something devastating about his living situation. His house had been badly damaged in a storm, and he couldn’t afford the necessary repairs, leaving him without a livable home. On top of that, he had recently lost his son in a snowmobile accident, which had left him feeling lost and alone.
Lee had been forced to move into a 12-foot camper with no heat, plumbing, or electricity, and he felt like he had given up on life. But Angela wasn’t going to let him give up. She started by buying him a heater for the trailer, but she knew he needed much more help than that. So, she created a GoFundMe campaign to raise the money he needed to buy a new home. She couldn’t have expected just how generous people would be. Within two months, she had raised $32,000, which helped Lee buy a new house.
Angela said, “Living in this trailer with no heat, no sanitation whatsoever — he has no toilet — no water, nothing, is not acceptable to me.”
“Every single one of us enjoyed doing this. This ain’t all for Lee. We all benefited,” She added.
The community’s generosity was overwhelming, and Lee was finally in a good place. He received a fully furnished trailer and clothes donated by the community.
In a video, Angela’s daughter explained to Lee, “You remember when this started, and I promised you we were going to help you? Merry Christmas.” Lee was overjoyed and said, “It’s wonderful. I’m so grateful for the people doing this.”
The story of Angela and Lee’s friendship touched many hearts, and people were quick to praise Angela’s kindness.
