Four major news networks cut away from President Trump’s news conference on Thursday after he made claims that “fraud” had been committed in the presidential election.
ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC interrupted coverage of the conference within minutes.
First to cut away from the White House conference was MSNBC anchor Brian Williams.
At just about two minutes in Williams interrupted and said, “Okay, here we are again in the unusual position of not only interrupting the president of the United States but correcting the president of the United States. There are no illegal votes that we know of. There has been no Trump victory that we know of.”
After just five minutes Lester Holt, an anchor for “NBC Nightly News,” cut into the president’s conference.
“We have to interrupt here because the president made a number of false statements including the notion that there’s been fraudulent voting,” Holt said. “There has been no evidence of that allegation by his campaign.”
NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie and Chuck Todd don’t cut off the feed of the conference but simply start speaking over the president while rambling on and fact-checking him.
President Trump delivered remarks at the White House on election night and made claims about votes that remained to be counted. NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie and Chuck Todd fact-check the president’s claims.
A few moments later, CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell suddenly interrupted the president’s comments to provide an impromptu fact-check. ABC soon followed suit as well.
Surprisingly Fox News and CNN both allowed President Trump’s news conference to continue uninterrupted.
