A very sad and disturbing story has come out of Chicago. A teen shoved a Marine veteran in front of a moving train causing his death. The father of the Marine has come forward to share his story.
The vet’s name was Mamadou Balde, his father says that a group of people shoved his son into the Red Line train tracks during an altercation.
His father said, “What type of human being could do this to another human being? Throw him in front of a moving train?”
According to his father, Balde joined the Marines as soon as he graduated from Lane Tech High School. During the time he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2008 to 2015 he did two tours in Afghanistan.
His father expressed some concern and regret with his son’s decision.
“When he came back from Afghanistan the second time, he wasn’t my son,” his father said. “He was not the man I knew.”
At around 5:13 p.m. on the day of the incident, Balde was hoping to catch a train heading southbound at the Jackson Red Line stop in Chicago. For reasons unknown, a group of men confronted him and eventually threw him in front of a moving train.
“He was walking away from these people,” said his dad, “He didn’t want any confrontation. They followed him and threw him in front of the coming train.”
Authorities told the father that CTA surveillance cameras will aid in tracking down the suspects who committed this heinous crime.
The father said, ” I just want justice for my son, that’s it.”
The 29-year-old veteran leaves behind his three siblings and his parents.
