The statement read, “Cody Ware will step away from racing this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway to focus on a personal matter. Matt Crafton will drive the No. 51 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing.” However, the truth behind his absence quickly surfaced, prompting the racing company to issue a statement on Monday following his arrest.
According to the statement, Cody Ware is “fully cooperating with the authorities” as they investigate the matter. Rick Ware Racing acknowledged NASCAR’s decision, saying, “We understand NASCAR’s position on this matter and accept their decision.” The company further expressed its commitment to continuing its multi-car efforts in the NASCAR Cup Series and are in the process of finalizing plans for the No. 51 entry at Martinsville Speedway and beyond.
