Former United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions was taught a very humbling lesson by President Donald Trump on Wednesday and it may have ramifications headed into November.

Sessions is running to get his old Senate seat back in Alabama. However, he failed to win the majority for the seat in the primary election and is now headed for a run-off.

President Trump’s words were forceful and direct, “This is what happens to someone who loyally gets appointed Attorney General of the United States and then doesn’t have the wisdom or courage to stare down & end the phony Russia Witch Hunt.”

After Sessions lost his Senate seat to Democrat Doug Jones, Republicans are trying to win it back in a special election after Sessions was appointed attorney general. However, Sessions was fired by the President in November of 2018 after a continued number of mistakes.

In the race to take on Jones Sessions percentage was at 31.1 coming up just short of former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville, who got the largest percentage at 32.2. The runoff is now scheduled for March 31st.

President Trump had not gotten involved in the race until Wednesday when he made the comment on social media, and he is exactly right. Sessions did not stand up to the bullies in the Department of Justice like Barr and he has learned a very humbling lesson by suffering the consequences.

“Recuses himself on FIRST DAY in office, and the Mueller Scam begins!” Trump wrote.

Conservative author Ryan James Girdusky disagreed and feels that the President should fully endorse Sessions.
