When asked what he ate, he replied “humans.”
According to police documents obtained by CBS 12, Austin Harrouff, the 19-year-old Florida frat boy accused of murdering a couple and then eating one of their faces, asked police to “help [him],” and that he “ate something bad” after he was arrested at the crime scene.
On Aug. 15, police found John Stevens and Michelle Mischcon dead of multiple stab wounds in their Jupiter, Florida, garage with Harrouff standing over them. Harrouff also allegedly stabbed the couple’s neighbor Jeff Fisher multiple times when he tried to intervene. (Fisher was able to escape and call for help.)
“It’s like it happened but I wasn’t aware of it at the time,” former college athlete turned cannibal killer Austin Harrouff muttered through broken sobs. “I don’t know, I don’t know. If I knew, I would tell you.”
Harrouff pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to two charges of first-degree murder. Though a trial was expected to begin on Monday, a judge instead accepted a plea deal for Harrouff. The killer will now be moved to a mental health facility until medical professionals determine he is not a risk to return to society.
Yes, you read it right… He will serve no prison time.
The outcome of the high-profile case has reportedly shocked the family and friends of the couple, whom Harrouff — then a 19-year-old college sophomore — attacked unprovoked in their Tequesta, Fla., garage in August 2016.
According to CBS 12, on the night of the killings, Harrouff was having dinner at a restaurant with his father when he suddenly got up from the table and left, wandering into the street and eventually walking more than three miles.

Harrouff removed his clothes during this time and ended up outside Stevens’ and Mishcon’s garage, which was fashioned as a furnished outdoor hangout space. The garage door was up, and Harrouff entered and stabbed the couple using their own tools, as well as a pocket knife.
When deputies arrived they found Harrouff crouched over Stevens, “making animals noises,” and “grunting and growling,” Sheriff William Synder said.
After attempting to subdue Harrouff with a stun gun and K-9 to no effect, three to four police officers managed to pull the college sophomore from the body, placed him under arrest, and eventually sedated him.
Snyder said though preliminary tests have found no drugs in Harrouff’s system, he “wouldn’t be surprised” if more in depths tests find evidence of Flakka — technically known as alpha-PVP — a strong, synthetic, psychoactive stimulant similar to “bath salts.”
