California-based musical act Green Day have long been railing against conservative culture, but the latest stunt from the aging pop-punk band may be a step over the line.
At a recent concert in the UK, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong went on a tawdry tirade against his home country before then suggesting that he’s no longer identifying as American.

Armstrong, 50, made the declaration during a Friday night concert in London, telling the audience: ‘There’s too much f***ing stupid in the world.’

He also told the crowd he was going to move to the UK, a statement that was met with roaring applause.
His statement was harsh, to say the least:

‘F**k America. I’m f***ing renouncing my citizenship. I’m f**king coming here,’ Armstrong told the London Stadium crowd Friday night.
‘There’s just too much f***ing stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f***ing excuse for a country.’
He added: ‘Oh, I’m not kidding, you’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.’
There are reports circulating that Armstrong has filed the necessary paperwork to run as a Republican presidential candidate in 2024, for which he’ll need to retain his citizenship.
