As this horrid COVID-19 crisis continues to wax and wane like a stain on our strained social lives, it appears as though we are running out of ways to find the final exit that doesn’t include mass ruin. condition
We’ve hit a wall with the vaccination rate, as a vast majority of the remainder of those unvaccinated are so by their own decision. They aren’t willing to give the shot a shot, and this has allowed the coronavirus to mutate within their populations, spawning these new “delta” and “lambda” variants.
Now, the Governor of Alabama appears to be fed up with the whole situation and is telling Americans to start blaming the unvaccinated.
Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said people are “supposed to have common sense” as she unloaded on unvaccinated people for driving coronavirus outbreaks and hospitalizations in her state.
“It’s time to start blaming the unvaccinated folks, not the regular folks. It’s the unvaccinated folks that are letting us down,” she said at a Birmingham event Thursday night that aired by the CBS WIAT affiliate.
Only about a third of Alabama’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, putting it worst in the nation alongside Mississippi.
The numbers are startling.
About 49% of the U.S. population is vaccinated. The rates for Alabama and Mississippi are around 34%.
Health officials hope that, when these vaccines graduate from “emergency use” status to full FDA approval, there will be another breakthrough in the vaccination rate in America.
