In America today, no industry is struggling nearly as much as the hospitality industry, with the continued effects of the coronavirus pandemic making it difficult for any business in which gathering is required.
And, on top of the COVID capacity issues, the enhanced unemployment benefits that have been available to these out-of-work servers has made many of their lives too comfortable to go back to the restaurant grind.
So, at this point, American restaurants are taking whatever they can get, and any owner turning anyone away had better have a pretty good reason to do so.
The DeBary Diner is turning heads with a sign posted on the front door.
It reads, “If you voted for and continue to support and stand behind the worthless, inept and corrupt administration currently inhabiting the White House that is complicit in the death of our servicemen and women in Afghanistan, please take your business elsewhere.”
The owner was livid:
“It was the only thing I felt like I could do,” said the restaurant’s owner, Angie Ugarte.
Ugarte says she posted the message the same day 13 service members were killed in Afghanistan.
“I was just angry. I was just let down. I felt like one of those mothers, or wives, or sisters who were gonna get that knock on the door,” she explained.
The statement comes as Florida continues to be the center of attention as it pertains to COVID-19 debate, and there is little doubt that this will continue in the coming days.
