Emotions in the White House tonight are tense after Vice President Mike Pence arrived to have lunch with President Trump.

Rumor is that no lunch was had.  Instead, the pair spoke at length about the President’s tweet earlier in the day stating that Pence has the power to insert himself into the electoral college certification process and overturn the results.

Pence’s reaction was not what the president expected to hear.

Vice President Pence has reportedly informed President Trump that he does not have the authority to challenge the results of the 2020 election, despite the president’s efforts to protest President-elect Joe Biden’s win.

Pence told the president Tuesday during their weekly lunch that he does not have the power to block a congressional certification of the Electoral College results, The New York Times reported.

The meeting reportedly came hours after Trump falsely claimed on Twitter that the vice president “has the power to reject fraudulently chosen electors.” Trump said at a rally in Georgia the previous night that he hoped Pence would “come through for us” during the Wednesday certification of Biden’s Electoral College win.

Even though Pence, as vice president, will preside over the joint session his role is mostly a ceremonial one.

Nevertheless, Washington DC is expected to be a madhouse on Wednesday, with hoards of the MAGA wing of Trump’s supporters arriving in the capital to protest what they have been made to believe was an unfair election.
