Dems Grasping At Straws By Calling On Trump Lawyer To Be Subpoenaed

With the 2022 midterms just around the corner, the Democrats who are running the January 6th select committee must understand that their time is limited. The prospects of maintaining a majority in both houses of Congress are looking slim for the liberals, and there is no doubt that a GOP takeover would render their committee defunct.

And so they are rushing to subpoena just about anyone that they can, hoping to somehow tarnish Donald Trump and his chances at being reelected in 2024.

Their latest maneuvering has sent the investigation into a bold new direction, as well, as they look to get to the bottom of an apparent pressure campaign aimed at Mike Pence.

The House select committee investigating the US Capitol insurrection plans to subpoena John Eastman, a conservative lawyer who had worked with then-President Donald Trump’s legal team and tried to convince then-Vice President Mike Pence that he could overturn the election results on January 6, a committee aide told CNN on Tuesday.

The aide noted that a subpoena would be avoidable if Eastman voluntarily chose to cooperate with the committee’s inquiry.

The Washington Post first reported news of the expected subpoena.

Earlier Tuesday, Rep. Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat who serves on the panel, told CNN that the committee needs “to determine to what extent there was an organized effort against Vice President Pence and we believe that, you know, some of the actors’ names have become known, including John Eastman, who laid it out in a memo.”

Pence was seen by many in the MAGA-verse as the politician with the simplest path to decertify the contentious 2020 election.

However, it should be noted that such a move would not have kept Donald Trump in office, but rather install Nancy Pelosi to the presidency per the Constitution.
