Why can’t Congress just do their job?
Isn’t that why we hard-working Americans go to work for all our lives to get paid less than we deserve just to pay taxes and fund a government that employs people who don’t do anything and get paid more than they deserve?
I understand that we are in a pandemic and times are hard but if a single mother can go work a minimum wage job just to pay for child care then these Congressmen who make six-figure salaries can do what needs to be done to help a country that is drowning.
Just give America the COVID-19 relief bill that it deserves.
“Everybody kind of assumes that we’ll get back here next week and all these efforts that are going on will run into kind of the proverbial brick wall,” said Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.). “Sometimes it doesn’t look that promising but we still have a week and a half to go. Maybe we’ll be here at Christmas.”
The speaker, too, sounded downbeat Thursday when she left the door open for late-December negotiations: “We have to have a bill and we cannot go home without it,” Nancy Pelosi told reporters. ”But we can’t go before the package is ready and the votes are there.”
“We’ve been here after Christmas, you know,” she added. Meanwhile, it was unclear if the government might shut down briefly this weekend amid Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) resistance to a defense bill.
The consumer-driven Christmas season is now upon us and an eviction moratorium set to expire very soon. This country is in a bad spot, and while money can’t heal the beating we have taken this year, it would at least add some cushion before the next blow.
