A new page has turned in the case of Gabby Petito, and the public speculation that has defined the case thus far appears to have been right on the money.

From the moment that Petito’s fiancé Brian Laundrie ended their cross-country road trip early, and alone, there were fears that he may have done something unforgivable to Gabby. It certainly didn’t help the neither Laundrie or his parents were willing to cooperate with investigators searching for Gabby, either.

Then Brian went missing just days before Petito’s body was found, adding further suspicion to the situation.

And now that Gabby’s cause of death has been revealed, all eyes are on authorities who have yet to locate her killer.

Gabby Petito died from strangulation, Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue revealed during a Tuesday news briefing, weeks after the FBI uncovered her remains at Bridger-Teton National Forest north of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Blue gave the manner of death last month as homicide. Brian Laundrie, her former fiance and the only person of interest publicly identified in connection with her death, hasn’t been seen since Sept. 13 and is the subject of a federal warrant for alleged bank card fraud.

The 22-year-old Petito’s remains were out in the Wyoming wilderness for three to four weeks, Brent said, without going into detail about the potential impact that had on the autopsy.

Under Wyoming law, no further information was to be revealed by the coroner at this time.

Brian Laundrie is believed to be hiding out in the vast wilderness of the Carlton Reserve, with police so far unable to locate the fugitive.
