The politically opportunistic California senator Kamala Harris has just been announced as Joe Biden’s running mate.
Biden sent an email out to his supports saying, “I’ve decided that Kamala Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Donald Trump and Mike Pence and then to lead this nation starting in January 2021.”
Biden acknowledged Harris’s background with law enforcement which has caused some tension with the progressive left but it was all praises in a tweet he posted after the announcement, “Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people. and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.”
It seems that after months of secret meetings and deliberations, the former vice president and former Attorney General are setting aside their conflict from the primary campaign where Harris drew a sharp contrast with Biden by calling him out for his comments about working with segregationist senators. She didn’t come right out and call him a racist but she did say his remarks were “hurtful.”
Nevertheless, she was happy to team up with Biden, “I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.”
President Donald Trump’s campaign condemned Biden’s pick, calling Senator Kamala Harris a “phony.” A statement was also released by a Trump 2020 advisor that said, “In her failed attempt at running for president Kamala Harris gleefully embraced the left’s radical manifesto, calling for trillions of dollars in new taxes and backing Bernie Sander’s government takeover of health care. She is proof that Joe Biden is an empty shell filled with the extreme agenda of the radicals on the left.”
