With every passing day, it seems more and more likely that Joe Biden will be the one bearing the title of President of the United States in January despite persistent claims of election fraud being made by President Trump.
Of course, this means that many Democrats will be chomping at the bit for a chance to play a role in the Biden administration, particularly those who supported and helped the former Vice President arrive at this moment in his long political career.
One such politician is Senator Bernie Sanders who rallied his Biden-cautious voters and delivered them to the polls despite disagreements with the Democratic establishment and the direction in which the party seemed to be heading.
Now it seems as though Sanders is ready for Biden to return the favor.
From Fox News:
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said on Wednesday that he would accept a position if President-elect Joe Biden’s Cabinet if one was offered.
Leading progressives have floated Sanders, who caucuses with Senate Democrats, as a potential candidate for the labor secretary position in the incoming Biden-Harris administration in recent days. The longtime senator, 79, confirmed that he was open to the possibility.
“What’s true is I want to do everything I can to protect the working families of this country who are under tremendous duress right now. Whether that’s in the Senate, whether that’s in the Biden administration, who knows,” Sanders said during an appearance on CNN. “Let’s see how that unfolds.”
Supporters of Sanders were strongly opposed to the nomination of Joe Biden for President, fearing that his centrist beliefs would move the Democratic Party away from the hard left side they hoped to lean toward in 2020.
