This is a positive first step. ”
“We will continue these efforts to facilitate the safe and orderly travel of American citizens, lawful permanent residents, and Afghans who worked for us and wish to leave Afghanistan,” the statement continued. “Because there is an ongoing terrorist threat to operations of this nature, we will not be sharing details of these efforts before people are safely out of the country.”

The US withdrew troops from Afghanistan marking the end of a 20-year war and the stability in the terrorist-ridden country. America’s presence there kept terrorist organizations, like the Taliban and ISIS, at bay. Since the withdrawal, the Taliban has seized much of the country.
The United States was occupying Afghanistan and providing aid to its citizens following the attacks on after discovering that the hijackers were Afghan natives.
To add insult to injury, the Taliban released a video blaming the US for the 9/11 attacks, according to Long War Journal:
