They say you can’t fight city hall. But in this case, you can, and one man is.

While celebrating the Fourth of July at his hot dog stand and beef business, the owner, Terry Trobiani was given tickets for flying the American flag in front of his business.

He has been fined $200 for each flag in front of his establishment – there were two flags – and he is headed to court next month to fight this.

However, Trobiani has yet to pay the fines, according to FOX 32. Rather, he has taken both tickets he has been issued and taped them to the entrance of his eatery.

“The American flag is a symbol of patriotism. It’s not a sign. They’re equating it with open/closed. Dine-in, dine-out,” Trobiani explained to the local outlet.

The village president of Prairie Grove, Doug Underwood, told FOX 32 that the situation isn’t about patriotism. Rather, he said that Trobiani’s flags are too close to the highway and town officials are fearful they could be blown off their mounts and into oncoming traffic.

“I love the United States flag. I’m a patriot myself,” Underwood said. “I think it’s disgraceful. Because he’s using the American flag as a tool to further his business interests.”

They’re not even close and when was the last time you saw a wind strong enough to pull a flag out of a flag holder and hurl it 75 feet so that it would be in oncoming traffic? This guy is a liar and an idiot. The only way that would happen if a tornado was coming to town.

There have been a number of people who have come out to support Trobiani and I believe that is the right thing to do. We need to rally around our fellow Americans when they are being treated unfairly.
