With the current situation, everything seems to be at a standstill. Our nation needs to come together by spending time apart in order to starve the virus that has plagued us these last few weeks.
COVID-19, more commonly referred to as coronavirus has left a trail of sick and dying in its wake. It is highly contagious, even more so than the common flu, and the CDC is concerned that it may live on surfaces for weeks at a time.
Now, as Americans have been bracing themselves for the worst that COVID-19 has to offer, President Trump has some very optimistic thoughts on how long our nation could be affected.
President Donald Trump said during a Fox News town hall on Tuesday that he wanted to get the economy reopened by Easter.“I’d love to have it open by Easter,” Trump said, setting a date for reopening the country for the first time.
Easter is on April 12.
“I would love to have the country opened up and rearing to go by Easter,” he repeated.
“That would be a great American resurrection,” Fox News moderator Bill Hemer replied.
The president has promised to listen to his doctors and advisers on loosening restrictions set by the government to fight the coronavirus pandemic, but has said would ultimately make the final decision.
Knowing that the worst has yet to hit the United States, that is an incredibly ambitious turnaround time, especially since the number of those reported infected is growing every day.
You can’t fault the man for such positive thinking, however, whether or not we will meet that Easter deadline ultimately depends on the actions and precautions we have already taken.
