Gatorland is a theme park in Orlando, Florida that features many gator themed activities and attractions such as the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line, the Gatorland Express Train, and now their newest mascot the Social Distancing Skunk Ape.

This overly aggressive, but totally well-meaning furry mascot, is meant to be a fun way to make sure guests obey their new coronavirus rules.

Gatorland, located not too far from Disney World, Universal Studios, and all the other fun family-friendly facilities that make Orlando the top summer vacation spot for many Americans, just reopened Saturday where the new costumed character was introduced to enforce their safety guidelines.

The Social Distancing Skunk Ape roams around the park and playfully hassles non-abiding guests, gently but firmly.

The character certainly brings some much-needed levity to the heaviness everyone has been feeling during these last few months. The name is just about as subtle as his intro video posted by the company, which goes details just what he is all about. If you were one of the lucky guests in the park on Saturday you may have met the Social Distancing Skunk Ape in person.

But how will Disney handle their many mascots roaming all over the huge park? When Shanghai Disney recently reopened, they kept all the characters safely away from guests on a far-away float.

Perhaps they’ll have hologram princesses always ready to charge you $16.95 for a perfect picture.
