Daughter Finds Humorous Way To Hug Her Mother Living In A Nursing Home

Even though Halloween is still months away, hundreds of air-filled hippo costumes are selling out. The reason is that they provide extra protection for people to hug their loved ones without the risk of contamination, kind of like a cute hazmat suit.

Recently a daughter dressed up as a large gray hippo in a tutu to visit her mother at the Fox Trails Senior Living Home in Stephens City, Virginia. The staff at the nursing home loved the idea so much that they came up with the idea to use sterilized suits so family members could hug during visits.

So the ballerina hippo and other inflatable costumes are in high demand since social distancing became the new normal. In fact, there are only a few left in stock at the top online Halloween retailer.

Just to get an idea of well this trend has caught on in 2019 HalloweenCostume.com sold about 75 of these costumes, but so far this year 450 suits have flown out of the warehouse.

Despite the price doubling its original price tag to $120 the item is still the third top seller on the site right now due to popularity and demand.

Of course, the top spot for the most popular item goes to the “Jurassic World” T-Rex inflatable suit, which is currently out of stock. According to company owner Tom Fallenstein, 20 of the dino costumes were purchased last year. In 2020 six hundred units of the $89.99 costumes have been sold.

A group of people even paid a visit to another senior living home dressed as dinosaurs earlier this month to lift the spirits of the residents sheltering indoors.

I’m glad that people can still find a way to bring happiness to others, even at a safe distance.
