The 4th of July is supposed to be a day when Americans can come together as a country and celebrate their freedom. Some people don’t see it that way and would rather make everyone around them miserable.

A 51-year-old man in Pennsylvania was arrested over the weekend when he tried to ruin the holiday fun for his neighbor.

Police were called when the man threatened his neighbor with a machete after he continued to hear fireworks in his neighborhood.

The crazy part is that the man wielding the machete is the one who called the police and told them that he would take care of the problem himself.

The local police were dispatched around 11:30 that night to Maria Lane for a report of fireworks going off. Francis Coleman told the dispatcher that if his fireworks complaint was not taken seriously he would have to “handle it himself.”

When the police arrived they located the source of the fireworks. Upon further investigation, they were able to find the man with the machete. The person setting off the fireworks informed police that Colman approached him removed the machete from its sheath and began verbally assaulting the man while waving around the weapon.

The man of the 4000-block of Maria Lane, he was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, two counts of disorderly conduct, and harassment. He has since bee arraigned and released on $5,000 bail.

In another report from Northampton County, a man threatened his neighbors with a machete to try to get them to stop setting off fireworks, according to police.

In Schuylkill County, a woman fired a shotgun at another resident in anger and was arrested after she confronted her neighbors with a gun.

I know fireworks aren’t pleasant to hear at night when you’re trying to get to sleep but can we try to be a little more understanding especially during a holiday celebrating our freedom.
